St. Francis de Sales School celebrated Teachers’ Day on 5 September 2026 with warmth, gratitude and enthusiasm, honouring the teachers whose dedication, wisdom and care continue to inspire and shape generations of students. The celebrations unfolded across the SFS Block, Mermier Block and Mermier Hall, bringing together students and staff in a spirit of appreciation, joy and togetherness.
Celebration at the SFS Block
The celebration at the SFS Block commenced with prayer and the ceremonial Lighting of the Lamp, symbolising the triumph of knowledge over ignorance and the light that teachers bring into the lives of their students. The occasion also paid tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, whose life and legacy continue to remind us of the importance of teachers and education.
The programme featured an inspiring address by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Melvin Parambukattil along with staff and students followed by “Echoes of the Heart,” a special instrumental presentation dedicated to the teachers. A heartfelt Teacher’s Day message by Shatakshi Uniyal of Class XII Science-A was followed by “Rhythms of the Hills,” a vibrant folk dance by the students of Class IX celebrating the cultural traditions of Assam.
The celebration continued with the Teacher’s Day Award Ceremony, recognising teachers for their dedication and contribution to the school community. The Class XII students added an emotional touch with “Before the Last Bell,” a special performance reflecting on their final Teachers’ Day within the school.
Celebration at the Mermier Block
The Mermier Block hosted a warm and vibrant Teachers’ Day celebration beginning with prayer, the Lighting of the Lamp and a tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan. The programme included an inspiring message from the Vice-Principal, Rev. Fr. Sibin, followed by “Little Voices, Big Thanks,” a musical tribute presented by the students.
A heartfelt Teacher’s Day message by Abraan Ahmed of Class 5C was followed by “Back to the Beats,” a nostalgic dance performance by the students of Classes IV and V. The programme then moved into the Teacher’s Day Award Ceremony, celebrating and appreciating teachers for the qualities and contributions that make them special to their students.
The celebration concluded with “East Meets West,” a vibrant fusion of Indian classical and Western dance performed by students of Classes VI to VIII, followed by the Vote of Thanks and National Anthem.
Teachers’ Day Celebration at Mermier Hall
The Mermier Hall celebration was exclusively organised for the teaching and non-teaching staff, providing an opportunity for the SFS family to come together in an atmosphere of appreciation, fellowship and celebration.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome to the school leadership and staff, including Principal Rev. Fr. Melvin Parambukattil, followed by the felicitation of the Provincial, Rev. Fr. George Thomas. A special video prepared by the students with love and care added a touching tribute to the teachers.
The celebration continued with entertaining performances by members of the school community. Madam Pragya Monjoree Das, Associate Programme Coordinator, presented a dance performance, followed by a musical performance by Sir Lucas Rosaily, Discipline Coordinator.
A particularly significant moment was the felicitation of Sir Dilip Subedi, NCC Coordinator and Physical Education Teacher, in recognition of his more than ten years of dedicated service to the institution and his outstanding contribution to the SFS Girls Band. His commitment, discipline and contribution to the school were acknowledged with heartfelt appreciation.
The Mermier Hall gathering also witnessed the announcement of the teachers associated with the Class X Board Examination, recognising their contribution and dedication towards guiding students in their academic journey.
The celebration continued with games and prize distribution, creating moments of fun, laughter and camaraderie among the staff. Teachers were also recognised and appreciated for their commitment, service and tireless efforts.
Celebrating Excellence
A significant highlight of the Teachers’ Day celebrations 2026 was the recognition of teachers whose dedication and achievements have brought pride to the institution.

Adding another moment of pride to the occasion, Ms. Suparna Chakraborty received the SOF Olympiad Best Zonal Teacher Award (North-East Zone) 2025–26, recognising her contribution towards nurturing academic excellence among students.
The Teachers’ Day celebrations across the SFS Block, Mermier Block and Mermier Hall beautifully reflected the school’s appreciation for its educators. While the SFS and Mermier Block celebrations brought students and teachers together through prayer, performances and messages of gratitude, the Mermier Hall gathering provided the staff with an opportunity to celebrate their collective achievements, recognise dedicated service and strengthen the bonds of fellowship.
The occasion was a fitting tribute to the educators who continue to guide, inspire, encourage and empower young minds.
